Tutors Needed!
Chicago HOPES (Heightening Opportunity and Potential for Educational Success)If you would like to volunteer please see your Volunteer Coordinator or call the HOPE worldwide - Illinois Office at (630) 787-0640
Chicago HOPES is an initiative of the Chicago Public School’s Homeless Education Program that empowers homeless students to succeed academically. They collaborate with schools, shelters, and communities to establish shelter-based, after school tutoring and cultural enrichment opportunities. This educational support, provided by committed and caring volunteers, will help students to break the cycle of homelessness that threatens their futures and communities. One-on-one tutoring sessions serve school age homeless children and occur in homeless shelters throughout Chicago. Without volunteers, Chicago HOPES could not exist. Their tutoring program is one of the few consistent things in the lives of the children that they serve. They therefore ask for a minimum tutor commitment of one tutoring session per week for the length of one semester (typically eight weeks). |
